Wang Cuijun Meets with Lin Jianguo-Academician of The Royal Academy of Engineering

On the morning of 27th June, Wang cuijun, deputy general manager of China Merchants Group, met with Lin Jianguo, academician of The Royal Academy of Engineering, and his party in Shenzhen. The both sides have a discussion about the cooperation in technology and innovation. John Dear, professor of Imperial College, Wu Weiguo, chief professor of Wuhan University of Technology, Mao Yunsheng, Professor of Wuhan University of Technology, and Anthony Tu, deputy general manager of CMI, were present.

Wang Cuijun expressed his thanks to Professor Lin for his support to China Merchants Group. He briefly introduced CMG’s current developing situation, emphasized the importance of “technology lead, innovation driven” in the strategic development of CMG. Wang Cuijun pointed out that CMI has made great breakthroughs in the aspect of high-end offshore facilities, luxury cruises and etc. CMG will continue to support CMI, enlarge investments in CMI’s research and development, and build CMI’s core competitiveness. He hopes that through cooperation with Imperial College, CMI could make new breakthroughs in the manufacture of maritime equipment and the application of new materials so as to promote the strategy of “technology led, embrace changes”.

Lin Jianguo stated that the both sides could explore new cooperation models, play their respective advantages and profound influences, and create a win-win situation.

Before the meeting, Xu Lixin, general Manager of CMI’s R&D center, and Lin Jianguo, academician of The Royal Academy of Engineering, signed MOU on behalf of both parties. 

Related persons from Department of Strategic Development and Department of Administration in CMI attended the signing ceremony.

Lin Jianguo is the academician of The Royal Academy of Engineering, academician of European Academy of Engineering, chairman of Associate of British Chinese Professors, and head of Mechanics of Materials Division, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Imperial College London, UK. Professor Lin’s research expertise is in Materials and process modelling, Solid/Computational Mechanics, and their applications in advanced plasticity manufacturing technologies.
