On November 9, Hong Kong Marine Department held the award certificates ceremony for “Heroic Sea Rescues”. Maisie Cheng, Director of Hong Kong Marine Department presented the certificates to Yiu Lian Tug under CMI in recognition of the heroic sea rescue in the super typhoon on September 16. Li Wenhua, Deputy General Manager of CMI, led the team to participate in the ceremony.
Maisie Cheng delivered a speech at the ceremony to express sincere gratitude to our tugboat staff, and highlighted that the tugboat fleet of Hong Kong Yiu Lian was in enormous danger in the super typhoon Mangkhut, while the tugboat staff remained calm and they successfully rescued 15 crew members in two ships in distress. Maisie pointed out that the incident reflected spirit of cooperation and noble aspirations of Yiu Lian Tug, and exclaimed that Yiu Lian Tug is the role model in the marine industry.
The Marine Department specially organised an awards ceremony to present certificates to the heroic tugboat staff. Wong Sai-fat, Deputy Director of Hong Kong Marine Department, Cheng Yeung-ming, Assistant Director of Hong Kong Marine Department, the relevant PIC of Human Resources Department of CMI and Tug Services Department of Hong Kong Yiu Lian, as well as the captains and crew representatives of Hoi Lian and Hai An also participated in the ceremony.
